The Resolution Institute’s nine categories comprises a comprehensive list of issues that affect world survival and quality of life. For example, issues within the category Health include nutrition and infectious diseases. The Resolution Institute has identified these issues by analyzing and integrating internationally-recognized lists of global concerns such as the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals, as well as topics addressed by the World Bank, the World Health Organization, Amnesty International and others.

Based on our research methodology, the HUE categories are:

  • Primary Needs,
  • Health
  • Environment
  • Human Rights
  • Peace & Security
  • Community Resiliency
  • Economy
  • Governance
  • Education

The Resolution Institute is actively engaged with academic and scientific members of the community who are experts in the determined categories including professors and directors at University of California at Berkeley, University of California at Davis and California State University in Sacramento. These contacts continue to provide the Resolution Institute suggestions and new ideas in relation to the categorization of issues.

If you are an expert in one of these nine categories, and / or would like more information, please contact our Data Scientist Evan Bornstein at
